Microsoft's latest Azure Maps updates include many new features and a number of services that are now generally available. Azure Maps on Azure Government cloud, Azure Maps Batch services, and Azure Maps Matrix Routing are all now generally available. Each now generally available service has added functionality as has the Rendering services updates.
Azure Government cloud is built to quality, performance, reliability and security standards of the largest public sector entities. Now, Azure Maps for the Government cloud allows users to include geospatial and location intelligence to solutions running in the Government cloud environment. Each Government cloud user receives a physically isolated cloud instance to ensure the highest grade security and compliance is maintained.
Batch service is now generally available, but it includes new features. New features include the ability to submit synchronous requests, designed specifically for lightweight batch requests. Azure Maps Matrix Routing is also generally available. New features include the ability to submit synchronous requests and improved performance. Further, a new waitForResults parameter allows users to get a 200 response if the request is finished in less than 120 seconds (otherwise, the user gets a 202 response).
New Render services features include a new Get Map Tile preview (v2), dark grey map style, a new route service to avoid border crossings, building model styles, islands/borders/country polygons, and national park labeling. The Azure team will take questions through Stack Overflow and feature requests through the Azure Maps Feedback UserVoice.
