Every day, the ProgrammableWeb team is busy, updating its three primary directories for APIs, clients (language-specific libraries or SDKs for consuming or providing APIs), and source code samples. Nine APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in categories including Location, Mapping, and Graphics.Highlights include the Smithsonian Institution Open Access API and and API for Placekey universal address identification service. Here's a rundown of the latest additions.

Smithsonian InstitutionOpen Access API provides access to metadata about objects in the vast Smithsonian museums and galleries collection. Get metadata for the objects (name, type, etc) also metrics about objects. Search by category or terms. Smithsonian Open Access enables users to share and reuse millions of the Smithsonian's images. This includes images and data from across the Smithsonian’s 19 museums, 9 research centers, libraries, archives, and the National Zoo. NAMESPY is a REST API service providing details about names. Given a full name, the API outputs a web score, which is a measure of how well known the name is on the internet, and a list of occupations / job titles associated with the name. Placekey is a universal What/Where identifier for a given place. A Placekey is comprised of encoding for a Point of Interest (called "What") and 3 unique character sequences, built upon Uber's open source H3 grid system ("Where"). Use the Placekey API to query a Placekey by geocoordinates, address, city, region or postal code. Also retrieve Placekeys for multiple things at once using the Bulk method. Placekey identifiers are useful for sharing locations and location-related data across organizations easily. It is listed in the Location category.

GB Global provides location intelligence, identity verification and fraud & compliance management services. The GB Global Verify People API verifies a person's details using combinations of their name, date of birth, gender, address and phone number. It can extract this data from documents and images. Use the API to verify a person details, verify document details, verify document image, and retrieve image. The GBG Face Match API allows users to submit a live image or a selfie and check it against a document image. It can be used to verify an individual user.
Emoji InfoAPI provides data about emojis in 42 human languages.Use this API to search and retrieve data such as title, tags, for example: face, grin, crying face, food, soda, soccer ball, etc. It also returns encoded and unicode standard information. SWOP API is a REST API for foreign exchange rates and currency conversion. Methods are available for single rate, list of rates, time series, fluctuation, amount conversion, single rate with calculation meta data, and more. SWOP provides current and/or historic rates for 190 currencies. A GraphQL API is also available from SWOP. Both APIs are in the Currency category.
AerialSphere offers georectified, immersive, 360-degree aerial mapping services for retail, insurance, real estate, travel and other business or official use. The AerialSphere XP360 Browser API enables you to embed the XP360 client into your website, and use it to display your data. It is listed in the Mapping category.

OG IMPACTAPI is an open source API for generating social images. Images can be rendered via meta tags in the HTML or rendered and posted via templates using RESTful API. GET images, previews, and URLs of images with the API and publish (POST) a template as well. OG IMPACT offers free usage for pre-made template images and paid plans for custom templates.
